STUMBLING THROUGH MIDDLE AGE, GRACEFULLY (ish)
SUNDAY TRADITION
Do you have any weekly go-to meals? Meals that are easy to make and EVERYBODY loves? Seems impossible some days, but we found a tried and true recipe that everybody loves. Add a little Hall & Oates background music, and you have the makings of a tradition we enjoy every week.
MY GRAY HAIR
I can’t talk about my hair without first talking about my mom’s side of the family. That’s them in the picture above. This picture is ~30 years old, but you can see that there is a family trait here that, with a few exceptions, runs strong. Dark hair. Not just dark hair. Dark, thick hair. The kind of hair that you get thinned out when you get a haircut and it still looks like too much. The kind of hair where your stylist calls you to reschedule your haircut because the receptionist only scheduled 30 minutes and there is NO WAY she could get it done in 30 minutes. “She didn’t know who you were” she explained.
True story.
Happened two weeks ago.
SEISMIC SHIFTS
The day we left the hospital after giving birth to our oldest I cried. I cried when they rolled me out the front door of the hospital. I cried when I got in the car. I cried as my husband buckled our little bundle of joy into their car seat. I cried all the way home. Granted the drive home was roughly one mile, but still.
I was exhausted and beyond overwhelmed.
ONE WORD
Here we are again. The beginning of a new year. That line in the sand where we decide that this year it will be different. With every new year, I have made some kind of resolution, normally in the “lose weight” family, that doesn’t go to plan. You know the drill. Lose 20 pounds. Eat healthier to lose that holiday weight. Fit back into your favorite jeans. You know the jeans. The ones you loved to wear before having kids and your body changed FOREVER.
